Inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs


We had a really good session with this year’s cohort of budding entrepreneurs at the University of Hertfordshire. I got the impression there were more attending this year than last. Time will tell if that’s due to a post-Brexit entrepreneurial spirit coursing through our veins or if the conventional jobs market is getting tougher (I’m sure there is someone in the Business School who knows the answer to that).

Torsten gave a fascinating presentation on the principles of marketing, starting with the inevitable video clips of cute cats doing cute stuff cutely, followed by 60 slides in 30 minutes. Good going!

Team then applied that learning to their marketing strategy by:

  • Developing their value proposition
  • Analysing their competitors
  • Identifying their perfect customer, and
  • Thinking about their channel mix.

Very much a taster session, but hope we left delegates with a model to structure their business idea. Also, had a good Q&A around the power of iterating your ideas, why customer feedback is so important and staying agile.

Even at this stage there were some interesting ideas and perhaps more importantly, some determined and passionate potential entrepreneurs. We’re looking forward to working with you.
